Food Swaps Guide
This guide is general education only - it is not medical advice and ScopeCoach is not a medical device. Hospitals differ, so always follow your own bowel preparation instructions. If they differ from this guide, your hospital's instructions win.
Lower-fibre swaps before bowel preparation
Small swaps can make meals simpler during the low-fibre stage. These examples are general only; use the food list supplied by your hospital.
Try swapping
- Wholegrain bread for white bread
- Brown rice for white rice
- Wholemeal pasta for plain white pasta
- Fruit with skins or seeds for an allowed smooth or peeled option
- Raw salad for an allowed plain low-fibre side
- Muesli or seeded cereal for an allowed low-fibre cereal
Keep meals plain
Choose simple foods with fewer visible seeds, grains, skins and vegetable pieces. Avoid adding ingredients merely because they appear in a generic online list if your own instructions exclude them.
When instructions differ
Hospital preparation plans vary. Your written bowel preparation instructions always win.
